NextReply suits any business that books time with customers. Malaysian examples we built pages for:
Each of these uses the same core: answer, book, confirm, hand off. What changes is the knowledge you give the AI and the way it talks.
In Malaysia, WhatsApp is not one channel among many. Infobip's 2026 country data puts WhatsApp at roughly 90% of phone users, ahead of Telegram and Messenger. Customers WhatsApp the clinic, the salon, the tuition centre and the car workshop before they think of calling. That makes the question for most SMEs simple: who answers all those chats, especially at 11pm, on a Sunday or during a long public-holiday weekend?
NextReply is a WhatsApp chatbot for Malaysia that works as an AI front desk. It replies in the customer's own language, whether that is Bahasa Melayu, English, Mandarin or a Manglish mix of all three. It answers questions about your prices, hours and location, books appointments straight into Google Calendar, and hands the conversation to your staff when a person is needed. It is trained only on your business, not the open internet, and it never pretends to be a general chatbot.
This page covers how Malaysian businesses use it, what the AI can and cannot do, how it fits with the WhatsApp Business app you already use, what the PDPA means for your chats, and what it costs.
Google Calendar works on every plan. Zapier, Make, Google Sheets and HubSpot connect on the Business plan.

WhatsApp is live on every plan. Instagram, Messenger and Telegram are coming soon and will use the same services, hours and answers.
A dental clinic in Cheras might get "Boleh buat appointment scaling Sabtu pagi?" at 9am, "Hi, do you do braces consultation?" at noon and "请问星期天有开吗?" at night. Many Malaysian businesses solve this by hiring front-desk staff who speak all three languages, then struggle when that person is on leave.
NextReply detects the language of each message and replies in it automatically. You write your service list and FAQs once, in English or BM, and the AI answers in Malay, English, Chinese, Tamil or another language the customer uses. It also copes with the mixed messages Malaysians actually send:
Customer: "Hi boss, esok ada slot tak for haircut? Around 3pm can?"
NextReply: "Hi! Esok ada slot pukul 3:00pm dan 4:30pm dengan Jason. Haircut for men is RM35. Nak saya bookkan 3:00pm?"
Customer: "Ok can, nama Faiz."
NextReply: "Done, Faiz. Booked for tomorrow 3:00pm with Jason. See you!"
Voice notes work the same way. Plenty of uncles and aunties prefer to talk rather than type, and the AI understands the voice note and replies in text. Customers can also send photos, such as a picture of a damaged tooth, a car's dashboard warning light or a hairstyle, and the AI uses it to pick the right service or pass the case to your team.
Setting up a WhatsApp AI receptionist in Malaysia takes three steps, explained in full on the how it works page:
The booking flow for Malaysian businesses is described step by step on our WhatsApp appointment booking page for Malaysia.
Malaysia has more public holidays than most countries: national days plus state holidays, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas, Wesak and more. Each long weekend brings a spike of chats from people who suddenly have time to plan: "Raya ni buka tak?", "CNY day 3 got open?", "Can book facial before Deepavali?"
A human team cannot reply to all of those while also enjoying the holiday. NextReply can. You set special hours for each festival, and the AI tells customers exactly when you reopen and books them into the first available days after the break. Businesses that stay open over the holidays can let the AI fill the extra slots without staff checking their phones during open house.
Nights matter just as much. Malaysians run errands after work, and messages to clinics around Bangsar and Mont Kiara or salons in Bukit Bintang keep arriving well after closing. An unanswered chat at 10:45pm is usually a booking for a competitor by morning.
The free WhatsApp Business app gives you a greeting message, an away message and quick replies. They are useful, but they only send fixed text. An away message that says "We are closed, we will reply tomorrow" tells the customer to go elsewhere. Quick replies still need someone to tap them.
An AI receptionist reads what the customer actually asked and answers it. If someone in Subang Jaya asks "Ada slot Sabtu for two people, hair wash and blow?", the AI checks Saturday, finds two stylists free at the same time and books both. If they ask whether you accept a particular panel or e-wallet, it answers from your FAQ. If the question is complicated, a complaint or anything sensitive, it passes the chat to a person.
Some Malaysian businesses also try catalog-based AI features inside the WhatsApp Business app. These can answer basic product questions, but they do not book into your calendar, keep a bookings dashboard or connect to your CRM. NextReply is built for the booking part.

Picture a physiotherapy centre near Mid Valley Megamall. At 7:10am a patient sends a voice note in Malay asking to move today's session. The AI understands it and passes the reschedule request to the front desk with the booking attached. At 1pm, during lunch rush, three new patients ask about prices for sports massage and back pain assessment; all three get answers and two book. At 9:40pm a parent asks in Chinese whether her teenage son can come after school on Thursday; the AI books 5pm. At 11:15pm someone asks about a workplace injury claim, and the AI tells them a staff member will follow up in the morning and flags the chat. When the team arrives, the new bookings are already in the calendar, the reschedule request is waiting with its details, and only one chat needs a real conversation.
WhatsApp is the main channel and, today, the only one NextReply runs on. It is live on every plan, and booking, voice notes and photos all work there. But Malaysian customers also find you elsewhere. Telegram is the second most used chat app in Malaysia, many younger customers DM businesses on Instagram after seeing a post, and Facebook Page messages still bring enquiries from older customers and from click-to-Messenger ads.
Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger and Telegram are coming soon. When they launch, they will use the same knowledge base and the same calendar as WhatsApp, so there is one set of answers and one diary. A few platform rules will apply:
Until then, put a WhatsApp link in your Instagram bio, on your Facebook Page and in your Telegram channel description. Email hello@nextreply.io to hear when each channel goes live, or read the channels overview.
Malaysian businesses that handle customer data in commercial transactions must follow the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Akta Perlindungan Data Peribadi). The Act was amended in 2024, and the changes that took effect during 2025 added duties such as notifying data breaches and, for many organisations, appointing a data protection officer. For a WhatsApp booking assistant, good practice is straightforward:
The official PDPA summary on the MyGOV portal (linked below) is a good starting point, and your own adviser should confirm what applies to your business.
Yes, for business purposes. Meta's WhatsApp Business Solution terms no longer allow general-purpose AI chatbots, the "ask me anything" kind. Assistants that serve a specific business, such as booking appointments, answering questions about its services and sending updates, remain allowed, especially when a human can take over. NextReply is built that way: it only talks about your business, and handoff to your team is part of every flow.
All three plans include the AI receptionist replying 24/7 on WhatsApp, voice-note and photo understanding, multilingual replies, Google Calendar booking, chat handoff to your team and a bookings dashboard with calendar view. Pro adds full conversation history, chat review and editable services, hours and FAQs, plus priority support. Business adds unlimited bookings, CRM webhooks, Zapier, Make, HubSpot and Google Sheets connections, and dedicated onboarding. The full list is on the features page.
Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. After that, Starter is $29, Pro is $59 and Business is $99 a month. Prices are in US dollars. At checkout, your card or bank may show an estimate in your local currency, and the ringgit amount on your statement depends on your bank's exchange rate. Local taxes may apply. Meta charges for WhatsApp template messages separately at its own rates. The Malaysia pricing page sets out what each plan includes and how Meta fees work. If you are comparing tools Malaysian SMEs already know, our comparison page goes through booking, voice notes and cost side by side.
